Note that, when you exercise and put your body to use, it’s the subcutaneous fat that burns down. The more you exercise, the more fat you lose. Compared to the other type of belly fat (visceral fat), this is a much better type of belly fat.
Also known as intra-abdominal fat, this is the fat that surrounds the internal organs in the midsection. Unlike the other type of fat, visceral fat is extremely difficult to lose. This is because the body fails to absorb energy from this type of fat during rigorous activities. This type of fat is considered even more dangerous than subcutaneous fat. People with too much of this fat are vulnerable to strokes, diabetes and hypertension.
According to research, people who drink and smoke have more visceral fat compared to those who don’t. Since this fat is intimately implanted in body tissues, it’s almost impossible for the average person to lose this belly fat. Visceral fat has inflammatory properties which can lead to serious health problems. For this reason, it’s very important that a person maintains a healthy lifestyle to keep this fat away.
If a person has more than the normal amount of this belly fat, it is recommended that they engage in cardiovascular exercises and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Walking is known to have a positive impact on people with large amounts of visceral fat in their abdominal area. What’s more, if you love swimming, you could use this exercise to keep your cholesterol low and lose the excessive visceral fat.
